The End of the Establishment by Robert Reich

In this article, the author talks about the current US government and the major issues facing the Country in this presidential election year. Some of the issues he talks about are clear, for example the state of the economy, lower median family income, the soaring income of CEO’s (Chief Executive Officer or leaders of companies). The median family income is at the lowest point in 16 years and most economic profits have gone right to the top. The country at this point in time no longer trust the government leaders, or the establishment who control the most power and people are rebelling against them because they do not represent the needs of the people or protect them from foreign made goods and are becoming involved in political uprisings.

I agree with most everything the author writes. The establishment in America have been controlling the economy to benefit themselves and also to choose the President instead of the American voters, like Bush and Çlinton. They are the reason the country is in an economical decline. People no longer trust the leaders and now are revolting against the so-called establishment. They are tired of all of the riches going to the banks, big corporation CEO and at the same time their taxes go down. Trump has emerged just because of this. They want someone who independent and is not in government and is not obligated to anyone. I do not think Sanders should be president because he is wants a totally socialist government. I do not agree that the government should be controlling the free market. We need them to provide things like national protection, military forces and interstate roads. They should not regulate wages, cost of gas or electricity or housing. America’s government is too big and making everyone dependent on them. Thomas Jefferson said Government should be small and not large. Trump says he wants to make America great again and reduce the size of government.
